 At your first visit a short medical history is taken to ensure that you are a good candidate for teeth whitening procedure. Your first appointment is approximately 70-80 minutes long and that includes your initial shade determination, before and after photos, two applications of whitening gel, application of desensitizing agent and post op instructions (verbal and written) 

Generally, you would get 2-6 shades lighter teeth in one session. For some clients this is an ideal result and some may require more than one session. It is very rare that a client may not get any results and that is due to nature of the teeth. Everyone’s teeth have a maximum absorption point and it is different for each client. It is not measurable or quantifiable. If a client keeps bleaching their teeth but they are not getting any brighter it means that the maximum absorption has been reached. 

Your results will also vary depending on the starting shade (the darker the teeth the more difficult it is to whiten them), your habits (tobacco use, consumption of food and beverages that cause staining), oral hygiene habits (brushing, flossing and regular hygiene visits)

Your initial shade will be lighter for the first 24 hours until sufficient breakdown of peroxide occurs and the teeth rehydrate. A full and complete breakdown takes approximately 2 weeks that’s when your true results will show. Some people will come back after two weeks to do a second session. For best results use a take home kit provided for you. Generally, touch up sessions are done 4-6 months or once a year depending on your personal preference. If there is a special occasion that you are doing this for, if you are starting with a lighter shade, you should do whitening at least 2 weeks prior to the occasion. If the teeth are darker then 4-6 weeks allowing time for second session if needed. Your whitening should be done close to your dental hygiene appointment (within 3 months of your cleaning)

 That's a great question! Unfortunately, not everyone is suitable for whitening. If you have any of the following you may postpone your treatment or may not be able to do it at all: If you are pregnant or nursing, undergoing chemo/radiation therapy, have periodontal disease or too much tartar build up, currently undergoing orthodontic treatment, have allergies to whitening agents, currently taking medications that cause internal staining, have too many fillings/crowns/ veneers along the smile line-visible when you smile. Only natural tooth structure can be whitened. If you are under the age of 16, if you have severe sensitivity, if you have epilepsy (take home technique is most suitable),medications that are photosensitive, some antihistamines, if you have a pace maker you must let us know. 

A very common question we get,  even though we are using the latest technology, some sensitivity may occur. If sensitivity happens it usually lasts 24-48 hours (temporary). Should this be a concern we recommend that you start brushing with desensitizing toothpaste two weeks prior to treatment and two weeks following the treatment.
